Holidays are an important part of every school community. Most of our holiday celebrations combine traditional Mexican customs with an international flavor. Our holiday celebrations include the following:
Halloween/Muertos: At this time we combine the American holiday of Halloween with the traditional Mexican "Day of the Dead" Activities include a costume parade, picnic in the "school cemetery", an altar, games, and of course, lots of candy!
This comes just before the winter holidays and the entire school participates. Each class prepares a song, dance, or skit for parents.
Children also prepare cards and gifts for parents. This is usually held in a convention room at one of the local hotels.
Valentines: In Mexico Valentine's Day is a time not just to honor love, but also to honor friends. Students celebrate with class parties and by sending lollipops and cards to friends.
Spring is welcomed by having a traditional Easter egg hunt the day before the two week holiday.Children have games, special
food, and the egg hunt. (Kinder and primary)
Students are celebrated in different ways on their special day. For the past few years the primary has gone to a local sports club, where they are able to enjoy swimming, games, and other activities. The secondary has taken trips to a local water park. Different activities are planned each year, depending on the interests of the students.
Parents are honored with a special program on their day. Kinder and primary children prepare cards and gifts.
