Graduation

The end of the year is a time of celebration. In June ninth grade students and their families celebrate the end of their middle school / junior high education, which is an important occasion in Mexico. Although most students continue their education at IAS, the culmination of this stage in their lives is still observed. A special ceremony is held at a local hotel, followed by breakfast and time on the beach.

The last year of high school is a busy time for seniors, as they make plans for going on to the next stage in their lives. In addition, they enjoy a series of traditions. During the first week of school students design their senior t-shirt, which they wear with jeans every Wednesday, the designated Senior Day. In April or May, students plan their Senior Breakfast and go to the beach for their senior pictures. In June students are

honored at the annual awards assembly the week before graduation. Wearing traditional robes, students receive their diplomas during the graduation ceremony, held at a beautiful hotel. After the formal ceremony students enjoy dinner and the traditional “Chusca Awards” presented to them by their teachers. These awards recognize students´ special personalities and talents. Most IAS students continue their education, whether it be in the United States, Mexico, or another part of the world.
