Athletics
Participation in sports is an integral part of student life. The objective of the sports program is to facilitate the participation of students in activities outside the classroom, allowing them to develop cooperation skills, sportsmanship, and physical and mental skills. Students are required to take physical education in grades 7-9, and can choose a sports class as an elective in grades 10-12. For the past three years IAS has been the only school in Cancun to offer a golf elective. A golf cage was built on campus, and students occasionally are able to enjoy an outing to a local golf club.
As the school grows, students have the opportunity to participate in more extracurricular activities.
At the present time soccer, basketball, volleyball, ping pong, pilates, and track andfield are offered. In addition to playing on school teams, IAS students have participated in national competitions in rowing, field hockey, tennis, and wind surf. Golfers have competed in the ASOMEX Golf and Tennis Tournament in Puerto Vallarta.
