Comunidad Educativa del Sol and the International American School of Cancun are private, co-educational institutions offering a bilingual, bicultural education for students from preschool through high school. The preschool and elementary sections (C.E.S.)were founded in 1990, and the junior high/high school (I.A.S.) was added in 1998. Grades K-12 are fully accredited in Mexico by the Secretary of Education (SEP). The secondary section is presently a candidate school for accredition in the United States. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) is the organization which accredits all American-style schools in Latin America, and this should be completed in December 2002.
Both schools are dedicated to high academic standards and the caring environment a small school can offer. CES/IAS are committed to providing the type of learning environment which will prepare students to successfully assume their role in the international community.
The school campus is located nine kilometers outside the city of Cancun, on the road to the Mexican Riviera. In addition to classrooms, the campus also consists of soccer fields, basketball courts, and computer labs. The faculty is international, consisting of experienced and dedicated teachers from Mexico, Canada, the United States, and England.
